Ah, March 20th, we have waited for you for so long. Spring is here and many of us have been waiting pa...well, maybe not so patiently for it to arrive.
Spring always makes me think about Easter, and Easter always makes me think about new birth. I've been watching the birds and squirrels gather up leaves and this and that for the purpose of building a nest. I watched as one squirrel stuffed his mouth full of dried up leaves from last fall and then scurry up the pine tree toward her nest area.
They are preparing for the new birth.
Just as the animals around us are preparing for the birth of their young; new birth...Jesus is calling people into the experience of the new birth. The Bible says He calls us by name. Isn't that amazing? The Creator of heaven and earth calls us by name; calls us into His kingdom.
One day, Jesus was explaining the new birth to a man named Nicodemus. Starting in verse 3 of John ch. 3, He states, "Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' Nicodemus said to Him, 'How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?' Jesus answered, 'Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. (new birth)
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, 'How can these things be?' (please read John 3 for the full story)
I really hand it to Nicodemus. He was a sincere seeker of truth and because of this, Jesus revealed Himself to Nicodemus. Verse 17 says, 'For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
It's the heart of the Father that all men be saved. Have you been born again? If not, then today is the day of salvation for you. The word says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness (right-standing with God) and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
If you prayed that and fully agreed with it in your heart, you are saved (born again) and have joined the family of God. Celebrate your new birth. Tell someone that you invited the Lord into your life (He makes you new) to perform His miracle working power in you!
