Jesus died...so that we would be crucified??

I just finished reading this article entailing Filipinos and a Dane who decided that personal crucifixion was the thing to do on Good Friday.

Don't believe me? You can read the article for yourself. I guess it happens every year, in the Phillipines, on Good Friday. Certain souls take it upon themselves to be nailed to a cross [in remembrance of what Jesus did for them?]

Hold on a minute.

Aren't they missing the whole point? Jesus said he came to bring life and bring it more abundantly. I know He was speaking, in large part, about spiritual life, but I believe he meant life as a whole, as well. He was punished and crucified, as mankind, so that we don't have to suffer! If we have received Him, we will never be accountable for our sins ever again! He paid our price for sin. We don't have to do some sort of penance and walk around feeling bad and ashamed at His death.

He laid down His life willingly, as the true and only Sacrifice that could be made. He was the only sinless Man; His blood the only pure blood that could be shed for the sin of the whole world. Don't ever have the impression that you or I have to add to what Jesus has done. For one thing, we couldn't add a thing. He completed the work and He said, "It is finished." Period.

We wish you a very happy Resurrection Sunday tomorrow. Enjoy the day with friends and family. Go to church.
